ATIRA is an autonomous co-operative, non-profit association for Textile Research. It has extensive infrastructure: laboratories, pilot mills workshops, library and information services.
Activities of ATIRA are multifarious. Apart from Research and Development, it offers Consultancy, Training, Testing and Calibration services. ATIRA has 8 Science Technology Divisions,11 Laboratories / Service Centers and a Regional Center at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
ATIRA has well equipped Analysis and Testing facilities. Testing services include Fibers, Yarns, Fabrics, Garments, Technical Textiles, High Visibility clothing, Geo-textile, Chemicals, Solid Fuels, Effluents, Drinking water (both chemical and biological), Biological parameters of textiles and Trace analysis of Toxic substances.
ATIRA is having a state-of-the-art Calibration Laboratory for calibration of various parameters required for the industry in production, quality control and testing laboratories.

- Adopting National and International standards, validated in-house methods, as well as standard laboratory practices to deliver accurate, reliable, repeatable and reproducible reports
- Documenting and maintaining the Quality System as per the criteria stipulated in the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ensuring confidentiality of test / calibration results
- Imparting need based training to the laboratory personnel;
- Participating in inter-laboratory proficiency testing and/or inter-laboratory comparisons.
