Special Recognition In Textile Sector

Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association, popularly known as ATIRA was conferred with “Special Recognition in Textile Sector Award” in the category- Technical Textile - on 5th January 2019 in a function organized by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India at Lal Quila, Delhi. This coveted award was presented by the Honorable Minister of Textiles Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani in recognition of the innovative work done by ATIRA in the field of Technical Textiles and was received on behalf of ATIRA by its Director Mr. M.N.Subramanian. In her address, the honorable Minister praised the developments of space grade components by ATIRA for ISRO for satellite applications.

ATIRA is an autonomous non-profit organization and is the largest association of textile and allied industries in India with activities covering all aspects from fiber to finished fabrics as well as Technical Textiles in the areas of R&D, Consultancy, Testing, Training & Skill development, Calibration, Environment audit, Publication etc. Established in 1947 in Ahmedabad, it is linked to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

ATIRA is designated as 'Center of Excellence’ in four areas by the Government of India viz Composites, Geo Technical Textiles, Nano Textiles and Protective Textiles. It has laboratories for Mechanical testing, Electrical testing, Heat & Flame testing and Non-destructive Testing and all are ISO 17025 2017 NABL accredited testing laboratories.

ATIRA @ service to MCX and BSE

ATIRA has been appointed as the primary and independent assayer for cotton testing on the two largest platforms – MCXCCL and BSE / ICCL. Multi Commodity Exchange Clearing Corporation Ltd. (MCXCCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX), as Clearing Corporation. Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd is an independent commodity exchange. Whereas the Indian Clearing Corporation Limited (“ICCL”), is clearing arm of the oldest stock exchange in India, BSE.
